Walk With Israel

This week Israel turned 63. It is time to celebrate and a time to reflect on our connection to Israel. We can celebrate and show our support for Israel by participating in Israel Solidarity Day/Walk with Israel, here at Etz Chaim on Sunday, June 5th.

I will reflect on our connection in my sermon this Friday by examining the following questions:
  1. How has Israel changed and how have American Jews changed?
  2. Last June, Peter Beinart in an article in the The New York Review of Books offered challenging questions about the attitude of younger American Jews. Is his analysis correct?
  3. Do American Jews think and feel about Israel in the same way we did in the past?
  4. How do recent events in the Middle East raise new questions and impact the way we look at the enduring questions?
The best way to learn about Israel and to express support for Israel is to visit Israel. I will be leading a trip to Israel for adults departing on Sunday, March 25th and returning on Tuesday, April 3rd. Our travel agent is currently gathering the final details for this trip. I expect to be able share them with you by the end of the month.
